1) GIS / CAD Foreman - Replacement Position

 This City of Summerside is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of GIS / CAD Foreman.  Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this is a highly responsible position providing GIS and CAD services for the City.  The GIS / CAD Forman shall be responsible for the development and maintenance of a GIS/database/mapping system for the City.  Work involves considerable contact and maintaining effective working relationships with municipal employees. 

The successful applicant must be able to express ideas effectively orally and in writing and will be required to have extensive knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD, the ability to analyze a variety of technical problems and to make recommendations as to their solution. 

This position is to provide drafting and technical support services to the Technical Services Department staff. It also involves providing computer generated graphic/presentation work for various City Departments. To maintain and update all City maps and plans as required. This position generally works indoors but may also provide surveying and inspection services as required. The GIS / CAD Foreman will provide technical assistance to other City Departments, along with the discharge of other duties, responsibilities and functions as may be assigned by the Director of Technical Services. 

Graduation from a post-secondary institution with significant GIS-related coursework, engineering drafting or engineering technology and a minimum of two years’ experience is required.  Experience in the use of ESRI ArcGIS software products, 3D Civil and the Microsoft Office suite of products would be considered an asset.  A valid driver’s license is required.

Manager of Financial Services-Replacement Position

 The City of Summerside is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking, motivated individual to serve as our Manager of Financial Services.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Services, the Manager is responsible for:

  • Managing the general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing and customer service functions
  • Supplying accurate and timely financial information to all departments
  • Coordinating the annual budget and annual audit processes
  • Projecting operating and capital results
  • Supervising department staff
  • Developing and analyzing metrics regarding the financial health and performance of the municipality


    Educational Requirements:

  • University Degree
  • CPA Designation (or eligible within 12-18 months)

Daytime Lifeguard(s), Community Services Department

 The City of Summerside is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as Daytime Lifeguards within the Aquatics Department of our Community Services Division. Duties will include all aspects of supervising pool users and maintaining the Aquatic Centre at Credit Union Place. This position is required for morning and afternoon shifts.


-Current National Lifeguard Certificate


-Willing to train with our Aquatics Manager in order to take a challenge exam for the Bronze Cross and then take part in the National Lifeguard Certificate Course in the new year.

-Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate

Instructor certification would be considered an asset but is not required. Lifeguards must be in good physical condition, be of good character, have good communications skills, and be courteous to the public.
