1) Steno/Receptionist (Replacement Position)

The City of Summerside has a great opportunity for a dynamic individual for the position of Steno/Receptionist.  Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this position

is the point of contact between the public and department staff with job duties including handling inquiries, assisting the public in filling out permit forms, handling invoices, receipt of payment, maintaining filing systems, and online communications. 

To be considered for this position the successful candidate will possess education from a post secondary institution with major course work in office administration, extensive knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and database applications, and experience in office administration including filing, record keeping and preparation of correspondence and reports.  A minimum typing speed of 55 wpm and a minimum of one year experience in a related position would be considered assets.

The ideal candidate will have above average communication skills, initiative, enthusiasm, strong analytical skills, the ability to use good judgment and desire to work in a team environment.  Honesty, integrity, and confidentiality are of the utmost importance.

As per the Collective Agreement: Wage range is $20.42-$23.82 per hour.
Full-time, Permanent. 40 hours per week.

Volunteer Firefighters

Our Summerside Fire Department is seeking applications for Volunteer Firefighters. Applications can be picked up and returned to Fire Station No. 1 (Foundry Street) Monday to Friday 8am-4pm. 3) Customer Service Representatives: Front Desk & Bowling Lanes (Part-time)
Range: $13.70-$16.70 per hour

The City of Summerside is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the team at our Credit Union Place to work as Customer Service Representatives in both our Bowling Lanes and at our Front Desk. Summerside’s bowling lanes offer five pin bowling, cosmic bowling, music, and is a licensed lounge. The Front Desk is the hub of the building with membership processing, concert tickets to sell, questions to be answered and so much more!

We are seeking applicants who can prioritize tasks effectively and can work well alone, but who can also thrive in a team environment. You must have a positive attitude combined with great customer service skills for both over-the-phone and in-person service.  The Front Desk position requires staff who work well under pressure and possess the ability to adjust and adapt to changing needs. The ideal candidate would be reliable and have a great work ethic.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:

  • Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills
  • Can trouble shoot and problem solve effectively
  • Proven commitment to a high standard of work
  • Sales of memberships and event tickets

To be considered for this position candidates must be able to work flexible hours which include early morning, daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

Must have or be willing to obtain a Responsible Beverage Server Certificate (19+) to work in the Bowling Lanes.

4) 
Daytime Lifeguard(s), Community Services Department $14.95/hour

 The City of Summerside is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as Daytime Lifeguards within the Aquatics Department of our Community Services Division. Duties will include all aspects of supervising pool users and maintaining the Aquatic Centre at Credit Union Place. This position is required for morning and afternoon shifts.

Requirements:

-Current National Lifeguard Certificate

OR

-Willing to train with our Aquatics Manager in order to take a challenge exam for the Bronze Cross and then take part in the National Lifeguard Certificate Course in the new year.

-Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate

Instructor certification would be considered an asset but is not required. Lifeguards must be in good physical condition, be of good character, have good communications skills, and be courteous to the public.
