Councillor Barb Ramsay was first elected to Ward 3: Summerside-North in 2018 and was sworn in for her second term on December 5, 2022. Barb was appointed Council Representative of Emergency Services and member of the Planning Board for her second term.
Prior to her retirement, Barb was employed with the Department of Health as a Youth Addictions Counsellor, Prince County Hospital as a Patient Care Nurse on the Medical, Palliative Care Unit. She worked with the Provincial Justice Department as a youth counsellor at the Young Offenders facility and with the Federal Government/Construction association as a Program Coordinator, Barb supported displaced workers to help enhance skills for future employment.
Barb is a certified Life Skills Coach and has been involved with the Provincial Government in facilitating Anger Management sessions for women/mothers in crisis. Barb also is a Wedding Commissionaire with the province of PEI.
She has been on the Crime Prevention Board in Summerside as well as the IODE Board. Barb volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society.
A devoted mother of two daughters, their husbands and six grandchildren, Barb resides in Summerside's Ward 3.
