Keeping us Safe
The City of Summerside continues to invest in the equipment and tools needed to keep our residents safe from fire and medical emergencies.
The Summerside Fire Department (under the direction of Deputy Chief Tom Peters) consists of:
- Two 2017 pumpers
- 1995 pumper
- 2007 combination pumper/tanker truck
- 85-foot aerial ladder
- 2007 Emergency Response vehicle equipped with the Jaws of Life, airbags, medical equipment, and other rescue tools
- 4x4 SUV used as the Chief’s vehicle
- Top-of-the-line compressed air filling station
- Ice and water rescue craft equipped with rope and ice rescue suit
- Five SCBAs, stokes basket and extra air bottles on every vehicle
- Summerside’s first motorized engine (a 1930 chemical truck)
- 1931 Ford Ladder Truck with wooden ladders
- 1883 Steam Pumper
- 1800s Hand Pumper
