Upholding our city bylaws
The City of Summerside has the authority to enact bylaws under the City of Summerside Act.
Several city bylaws fall under the jurisdiction of the bylaw enforcement officer to ensure our city remains safe and clean for all residents. Those include:
- Emergency Measures
- Dangerous, Hazardous & Unsightly Premises
- Firearm
- Traffic & Parking
- Taxi
- Animal Control
- Nuisance
When a resident calls in with a complaint that pertains to a bylaw not being adhered to, a member of the Police department is assigned to investigate the incident. In the event that a bylaw has been broken, depending on the severity of the infraction, an officer will take whatever reasonable means necessary to enforce the bylaw.
