Parks, Greenspaces & Active Transportation

Our City's Parks & Greenspaces Division of the Community Services Department has the great responsibility of maintaining all of our wonderful parks, playgrounds, green spaces, urban forests and Active Transportation routes.

The division is also responsible for planting and maintaining flower beds throughout the City.

We maintain over 130 acres of parkland area throughout the City, including 24 designated parks. These parks provide residents and visitors safe, well-maintained areas for a broad range of leisure and sporting activities.

City parks come in all sizes. The largest is Rotary Friendship Park at 53 acres, and the smallest is Loyalist Park at 1.3 acres. Most city parks are orientated to more passive uses, with the notable exception of Queen Elizabeth Park, which has been the site of numerous hosted National Baseball and Softball events that bring in many visitors and much prestige to the City.

City parks are classified into categories including:

  • Playgrounds
  • Fields of Play
  • Passive Parks (natural parks)
