The CS-31 Building Bylaw and Regulations outlines the construction, alteration, demolition, relocation, and occupancy of buildings within the City of Summerside.

Land development in the City is governed by Summerside's comprehensive Zoning Bylaw CS-40 - Office Consolidation. The Zoning Bylaw divides the city into development zones which determine the type and density of development in the City.

Summerside is currently working through the 14 initiatives under our CMHC HAF agreement. Periodically we will reach out to the public for feedback on policies, bylaws or guidelines we're drafting to complete these initiatives. Design Guidelines
As of December 16th, the design guidelines are now in force. They contain building and site elements that aim to blend new multi-unit buildings into the surrounding community. They only apply under certain under certain circumstances, so be sure to review them and reach out to the Technical Services department if you have any questions.
