
SUMMERSIDE, PE - The City of Summerside has announced the recipients of the 2025 Heritage and Culture Awards, recognizing individuals and groups whose contributions enrich the city’s cultural life and preserve its heritage.Recipients were selected by a community committee and reflect Summerside’s diversity and community spirit.
2025 Award Recipients:
Cultural Activities Award: Recognizes contributions to Summerside’s cultural life.
- The Evermoore Saturday Session – Community traditional music gatherings
- The Green’s Shore Quilters – Fibre arts education and community contributions
- Ashley Moore – Mi’kmaq basket weaving and cultural education
Heritage and Culture Volunteers of the Year: Honours volunteer commitment to cultural and heritage initiatives.
- Angela Maria Rueda Torres – Newcomer support and community event volunteerism
- Cristina Alejandra Ferrada Maraboli – Multicultural programming and community engagement
Heritage Activities Award: Recognizes efforts to preserve and share local history.
- Brendan Ronahan – Historical walking tours and heritage education
Heritage and Culture Award of Honour: Presented for long-term contributions to Summerside’s cultural & heritage landscape.
- Parkview Senior Citizen’s Club – Longstanding leadership in senior programming and community building
The awards will be presented at the Mayor’s Tea on Tuesday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, with a weather date of March 25. The event is open to the public.
