SUMMERSIDE ANNOUNCES FREE CONCERT FOR CANADA DAY FEATURING ALAN DOYLE AND MATT MAYS
Posted on 04/21/2026

SUMMERSIDE, PE – The City of Summerside is proud to announce that acclaimed Canadian artist Alan Doyle will headline this year’s Canada Day celebrations with a free concert on the Summerside Waterfront, joined by co-headliner Matt Mays.

This exciting announcement was made today by Mayor Dan Kutcher. Mayor Kutcher was also joined by members of Summerside City Council, whose continued support has been instrumental in making this event possible.

“Alan Doyle is one of the most recognizable and celebrated voices in Canadian music,” said Mayor Kutcher. “From his days with Great Big Sea to his outstanding solo career, he has built a reputation for delivering high-energy, unforgettable performances. Having Alan headline our Canada Day celebrations, alongside the incredible Matt Mays, is something really special for our community.”

With a career spanning more than three decades, Doyle continues to create and perform at the highest level. His latest project, recorded across multiple cities in Canada and the United States, highlights both his creativity and dedication to his craft, while his live performances remain among the most engaging and celebrated in the country.

“We’ll celebrate the greatest country in the world. Come on. Prince Edward Island. Canada Day. Summerside. It’s going to be awesome,” expressed Doyle, with excitement.

Matt Mays will bring his signature style of rock n’ roll to the stage as co-headliner. A JUNO Award-winning artist, Mays has built a loyal following across Canada with acclaimed albums and dynamic liveperformances.

“Canada Day is about bringing people together, and this year’s lineup does exactly that,” said Councillor Ken Trenholm, representative for the City of Summerside Department of Parks,

Recreation & Active Living. “With Alan Doyle and Matt Mays leading the way, and a strong group of Island performers supporting them, we’re creating an experience that celebrates both national and local talent.”

The Canada Day celebrations will feature a diverse, all-Canadian lineup, with supporting performances on the mainstage from Krysten Cameron, Brooke and Brad, Tcheu Misère, and the Fabulously Rich. The City continues to expand its programming and work closely with francophone and multicultural communities to create a welcoming and inclusive celebration for all.

Summerside’s Canada Day event is made possible thanks to Bobby Morrissey, Member of Parliament for Egmont through Heritage Canada, whose funding contributions help bring world-class entertainment

to the city.

“Events like Canada Day play an important role in building community pride and showcasing Summerside as a vibrant place to live and visit,” said CAO JP Desrosiers. “This celebration continuesn to grow each year, and we’re proud to work with our partners to deliver a high-quality, accessible event

that residents and visitors can enjoy together.”

This announcement is part of an exciting stretch of summer events in Summerside, with more details to be shared in the coming weeks. The Canada Day celebrations on July 1 will once again serve as a highlight of the season, bringing thousands to the waterfront for a full day of festivities and an unforgettable evening of live music.

Planning is ongoing, and additional details related to programming, activities, and community partnerships will be announced soon. Stay tuned for more information as the City prepares to celebrate
