City of Summerside Signs Five-Year, $250,000 Funding Agreement with Generation XX and Summerside Boys and Girls Club

SUMMERSIDE, PE - The City of Summerside is proud to announce a transformative investment in youth and community development through a five-year funding agreement with two of the city’s most valued youth-serving organizations: Generation XX and the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside.
This $250,000 funding agreement demonstrates the City’s long-term commitment to empowering young people, supporting safe and inclusive spaces, and building a stronger, more resilient Summerside. Under the agreement, each organization will receive $25,000 annually for the next five years to expand programs, strengthen outreach, and continue their critical work with children, teens, and families.
“Organizations like Generation XX and the Boys and Girls Club play a vital role in shaping the future of our community,” said Mayor Dan Kutcher. “This investment is about more than just dollars; it’s a clear commitment to our youth. We believe in their potential, their ideas, and their right to succeed. Supporting these organizations means supporting leadership, equity, opportunity, and a stronger Summerside.”
Generation XX and the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside provide vital services, including after-school programs, mental wellness support, skill-building workshops, recreational activities, and community engagement opportunities for youth of all backgrounds. Their grassroots work is central to ensuring every child and teen in Summerside has the chance to grow, belong, and thrive.
“This agreement gives us the stability to plan and deepen our impact,” said Gordie Whitlock, Executive Director of Generation XX. “We can now broaden our outreach, strengthen partnerships, and offer more safe spaces for youth to connect, learn, and lead.”
The five-year agreement ensures continued delivery of:
- Youth empowerment programs that promote leadership, confidence, and community involvement.
- Safe, inclusive environments where young people can access mentorship, wellness support, and peer connection.
- Education and skill development through hands-on learning, workshops, and youth-led initiatives.
- Community collaboration through joint programming, events, and shared efforts to support youth and families in need.
Both organizations have also committed to working collaboratively on shared initiatives. A key focus will be the creation and expansion of youth-led programming that encourages civic engagement, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
“This long-term support from the City means we can continue to deliver life-changing programs for our youth,” said Adam Binkley, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside. “It’s a real show of trust in the work we do, and in the power and potential of young people in our city.”
This agreement also aligns with the City of Summerside’s broader goals of fostering inclusive growth, building stronger neighborhoods, and supporting social development through strategic partnerships.
The City encourages residents and families to stay connected and participate in upcoming initiatives that will grow from this important investment in our youth.
